Welcome to whale season!! Humpback whales are an iconic part of life in Hawaiʻi, come learn more about them, how entanglement teams are rescuing them, and the teaching resources available for you to use with your students. Patty Miller, expert whale educator from the NOAA Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and Susan Fret from the Pacific Whale Foundation will share their wealth of knowledge about Hawaiian Northern Pacific Humpback Whales. This presentation is bound to be filled with information and images to celebrate these majestic marine mammals that migrate to Hawaiʻi annually.

Who: 5th through 12th Grade Students What: This photo contest is a chance for students to showcase their climate change experience through the lens of a camera, and to provide a short written narrative. When: Submissions due February 15, 2023 Where: Online Submission Form
Winning photos will be featured next Spring (2023) on the NOAA Regional Collaboration Network website in conjunction with responses developed by NOAA's climate experts, and will be displayed in various NOAA facilities including the Kauai Ocean Discovery in Lihue, Inouye Regional Center in Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary in Kīhei, and the Mokupāpapa Discovery Center in Hilo.
