The King Tides will be occurring on August 10th and August 11th! These are the highest high tides of the year and can pose a unique coastal hazard, such as coastal flooding and inundation in low lying areas. It is expected that with impending future sea level rise there will be frequent high tide flooding that could exceed coastal inundation thresholds.'
The University of Hawai'i Sea Grant is seeking people to participate in citizen science by submitting pictures accompanied by observations to aid in their study of this phenomenon. Visit their website to learn more about how to get involved.
